Have been waiting for this to be unpaywalled. Excellent work. Nothing in it however is news to me, growing up in a Texas city close to the border and coming from (legally immigrated) Mexican parents. In all my years in grade school there were barely any desk available due to the high amounts of illegal immigrant children. Many of peers had to sit on the floor. At one point the school asked us to bring our own toilet paper due to lack of funding because illegals don’t pay property taxes. At least half of not more of the student body spoke only Spanish and had no desire or incentive to learn to speak English. So much of Mexican culture is hypocritical and uncivilized at its core. Thanks for reporting on this.
