It seems like the editors and publishers and the deans of academe are much like the mainstream media. The former believes everything it is told by internet trolls, while the latter gets all its Mideast news from Hamas and the Houthis.
The cruelty and small minded ferocious behavior of academics never fails to astound. I am impressed that anonymous emails can have such catastrophic consequences, why are they not ignored/filtered as spam? Most likely because they fuel the petty jealousies that already are in place at colleges and universities.
I previously emailed you; can you provide me your address for service? I am commencing legal proceedings for defamation in the High Court of Justice in London. I noticed you have described yourself as a "digital nomad", so can you clarify if you have a permanent residence? Where can I serve you my legal papers? Can you at least tell me what country you are currently located? Additionally, I emailed you a letter before claim on August 6 (I will resend it shortly in case it went to spam folder or you deleted it). As I said, I would appreciate if you could provide me with your contact information. Of course, you do not need to post this publicly and you can email me or send it by a private message.
1. Apart from Substack, you also sued Sailer and Kirkegaard (of cases I know) in connection with this - and threatened to sue me (in the course of private correspondence that you initiated from Humanities Commons). This seems vexatious.
2. I am not spreading unsubstantiated allegations. I am asking a question that I consider to be of significant and legitimate public interest: Did one of America's most prominent and well-funded right-wing think-tanks effectively subsidize your "hobby"? In any case, you and Anderson have a very easy way to put any rumors that do emerge from me asking this question to rest.
PS. Please note that I have re-published this article on my website as well.
Can you provide your address for service? I am commencing legal proceedings for defamation in the High Court of Justice in London. You emailed me (via Google) an address for service, however, I received confirmation from the owner or someone who looks after the building that you do not reside at the property nor are registered as doing business at the address. In other words, it was a false address. If you further contact me about service, please do not provide more misleading or false information. I do not personally believe the erroneous address you provided me was by accident, since it was sent to me three or four times. How can you "accidentally" write an address you do not reside or do business at multiple times? However, if I am mistaken feel free to explain why you sent me for service an address you do not live at nor are registered as doing business there. I have had to waste postage costs on sending a letter before claim to an address you do not have anything to do with. That letter was dated 6 August and I emailed you a copy on 14 August.
(Specifically sending me threats and abusive messages).
The email account of 'Cancel Watch' (cancel.watch.account@proton.me [note this is public: https://cancelwatch.substack.com/about]) was also permanently suspended by Proton Mail for sending me vulgar threats including blackmail. For confirmation the account was suspended, here is proof of an email I received from the Proton Anti-Abuse Team:
Screenshots from their email and X account were investigated by Hertfordshire Police who confirmed these messages breached the Malicious Communications Act 1988. However, since the owner of the 'Cancel Watch' blog is anonymous and my emergency disclosure request to Substack was denied (Substack's policy on this is restrictive and is pretty much limited to terrorism or threats of serious physical injury) my criminal complaint was regrettably closed.
Suffice to say, I do not think impartial readers will find a hit-piece about me written by an anonymous troll who engages in criminal activities who has been banned from Twitter and had their email disabled to be a particularly reliable source.

Wow. Just wow.

Don’t trust anything that has wiki in its name without verification. Also they have not learned to not feed the trolls.

Hey Chris. 1/4 of 2025 is almost gone, and you’re down posting a few original pieces in a year. Have you given up?
All fine. For it's all in the game Oliver D. Smith. All in the game. Enjoy, so to speak, this Earth immortality. You're such a winner.
All that is needed for bad men to triumph is good men to do nothing
Although, I do assume that City Journal didn't actually pay him money. That seems too ridiculous. Maybe they just agreed to take down the article.
Thanks for having a pair for FREEDOM OF THE PRESS 👍‼️‼️
thanks for the clarification I edited that part of the article and deleted a couple of sentences
why did the Manhattan Institute delete that article? How much was your settlement?
I can publish whatever emails I want
TBH, posting something on the internet isn’t the same thing as “publishing”
Get a job you worthless little twat.

I will invite readers to judge the evidence for themselves: https://cancelwatch.substack.com/p/oliver-d-smith-299
There will be more details forthcoming about Smith's activities in 2024.
The Twitter (X) of 'Cancel Watch' was suspended for harassment:
